Diptyque Philosykos Perfume

When my favourite perfume Stella McCartney L.I.L.Y was sitting on my side with the last drops in, I knew I needed a new perfume, in enters the January sales and my usual browsing on Space NK and I spotted one of the most talked about perfumes in the blogging/youtube world. Diptyque Philosykos is usually a whopping £70 for 100ml, but this was just £30 p+p. Now usually im incredibly picky with scents, I don't like fragrance's too sweet, fruity or floral. I like musky, vanilla, coconut, mossy green fragrances. So when I read this description;

"In the heat of a Greek summer, “to get to the sea,” recalls Yves, “you had to walk through a natural orchard of wild fig trees.” Returning from Paris, Desmond brought back a few leaves of these trees in a little box. Years later, the leaves had lost none of their fragrance. Philosykos, which in Greek means “friend of the fig tree,” is an ode to the entire tree: the green, pungent freshness of the leaves, the wood warmed in the sun, the milky flavor of the fruit."

I will put my hands up and admit I bought this entirely on reviews and the fact it was on a massive reduction. Bad I know! But with all the positives on it and that description of basically "holiday in a bottle"! I couldn't resist!

So when this arrived I was hesitant having never smelt it before, but I don't know why I was worried! This is such a different sort of fragrance, you will not find this in your local high street shop! Everything I liked about a perfume was in it, mossy/leafy smell, slight hint of fruit (figs obviously) and I sprayed it on myself to let it sink in with my own scent and now and again I was sure I could smell coconut. I'm in love!

The only downside was after about 2-3 hours I wasn't sure I could smell it anymore, now usually with a new perfume it takes me a few weeks before I stop noticing the smell after a few hours (you know that moment you spray yourself again thinking just because you cant smell it, no one else can?), however when I asked my Mum if she could still smell it after that time, she said only a little and that it was hardly there.

I still love this perfume massively, such a unique scent and I can imagine me wearing it throughout the spring/summer this year. Its just perfect for that.

Unfortunately as its a popular scent, Space NK don't stock the 100ml for £30 anymore. But they still stock the 50ml and the 100ml at full price. Check it out here Diptyque Philosykos Perfume

Tom Ford Bronzing Powder in Terra

So here is my first review, and its a beauty.

Now normally I wouldn't shell out this amount of money on a bronzer, or any kind of makeup product. But for my birthday I got a few gift vouchers from House of Fraser and I've had my eye on Tom Ford products for a long time and this was no exception.

This is one of those, where do I start products? Well we have to start somewhere right? This comes in a brown 'Tom Ford' embossed pouch (that already makes me think of luxury). Now at first I had trouble opening it, but once I had realised it wasn't a clasp but more of a magnetic sort of casing, you gently pull it up and it reveals this;

A moment to stare? Ok here's another one, but closer up;

 This is the darker of the two bronzing powders available, the other one is Gold Dust. After using Nars Laguna for a long time and it not really appearing on my skin too well, I knew I needed a deeper bronzer if it was going to appear on my skin. I had read other reviews about how it wasn't actually that dark but still gave your skin the most amazing glow without making it look obvious that you had loads of product on your face. That is pretty much how I would describe it as well. It illuminates the face with this perfect skin kissed glow.

 My skin tone is neutral, I have hints of yellow and pink so when it comes to getting bronzers, I never like to make myself how should I say it? Look like I've been tangoed? This is just perfect for me. I would even go to say on paler skin you could use this as a contour and just blend that bad boy (Blending is everybody's friend ;-)) it actually comes across darker in the photos then it is in real life.

I can see this bronzer lasting me a very long time, and with the mirror, I would happily take this away with me if I was travelling as my only compact. And I am very happy that this was my first Tom Ford product.

New Year, New Beginning!

Hi and welcome to my blog!

So its been a long time coming, I have wanted to create a blog for a very long time and as that new year gong chimed, I thought why not?

To start with, happy new year!
Im Sarah, a 24 year old full time council worker from Bromley. But that's not all I do, thank goodness! Only last year did I embark on probably the biggest change in my life, I went and took two weeks of leave from my current work to train to be a makeup artist at London Muse, and if in the future people who like it, I shall do a post about my experience there (as a teaser, it was fantastic). I eventually want to go into it full time and can think of nothing I want more. But as you can imagine in the current climate, its hard. But I am really trying. Persistence is the key! Slowly im building my portfolio and loving every minute.

Through social networking and blogs! I have found so many fantastic people, many who have a blog and recommend I have a go!  Nothing to loose right?

So what will be featured on my blog?

Well being a makeup artist I love my makeup. I constantly buying for myself and my kit. So that along with skincare will feature mostly on here. Maybe the odd fashion item as well (Im a sucker for a handbag).

That's about it really, better get cracking on that first post ;-)
